Exporting file lists and creating batch files

Section titled “Exporting file lists and creating batch files”

Open the panel with the Export button on the left of the Duplicate files or Remaining files tab.

Here you can export the files to a CSV file, for use in other software (such as Microsoft Excel).

  • Export marked files to CSV file - Export just the marked files.
  • Export entire duplicate files list to CSV file (or the remaining files list) - Export every file in the list. Tick Only export rows matching the current filters to export only the files shown by the current filters.

These CSV files are comma-separated text files, with quoted fields and a header row. They include each file’s name, folder, group, size, dates and marked and protected state, plus the hash, dimensions, length and any metadata columns from the scan.

The file uses the same layout as Duplicate Cleaner 5’s CSV export.

To export the Duplicate folders list, use the Export button on that tab.

Using Create a batch file using marked files you can create batch files (or any other kind of list) from the marked files, using your own format. Each marked file adds one line, made from the template with these flags replaced:

  • /file - File name
  • /folder - Folder name

Example template:

del "/folder\/file"

Content of output file:

del "C:\myfolder\myfile1.txt"
del "C:\myfolder\myfile2.txt"
del "C:\myfolder\myfile3.txt"
...

Quote and escape names for the command shell - Puts quotes round the part of the line a flag is in, unless the template already has them, and doubles any % so the command shell does not read it as a variable.

The file is saved as a .bat file, but you can give it any name and extension you like.
