Home page
The Home page is the starting point for most of the stuff you’ll want to do. From here you can create a new scan, import a scan you saved earlier, and see all the scans you have open.
Create new scan
Section titled “Create new scan”This panel creates a new scan and opens it at its What to find tab.
- Scan mode - Choose how the new scan compares files. Each mode is listed with its icon and a short description. See Scan modes. The mode can’t be changed once the scan is created - create another scan instead.
- Settings from - Where the new scan’s settings come from:
- Default scan settings - A fresh scan with the standard settings.
- Based on: (scan name) - Copy the settings of one of your open scans: its criteria, filters and folders to search. The results are not copied. If the open scan uses a different mode, the settings the two modes share are copied and the mode-specific settings start from their defaults - an arrow shows the change of mode.
- Name - A name for the scan, shown in the navigation bar. Leave it blank to use the suggested name, which is made from the mode and the date.
Click Create new scan, or press Enter in the name box.
Import scan
Section titled “Import scan”Import a scan you exported earlier - with or without its results - as a new open scan. Click
Import scan and choose a .dcscan file.
The Recently exported drop-down lists the last scans you exported, so you can bring one back quickly. A gear icon marks a scan that was exported as settings only.
See Saving, exporting and importing scans for more detail.
Open scans
Section titled “Open scans”This list shows every scan you have open, with its Name, Mode, Location (the folders it searches), and the number of Duplicate files, Unique files and Duplicate folders it found.
- Double-click a scan to go to it.
- Use the Actions buttons to save or export a scan, or to close it.
Closing a scan discards its results and marks. Export it first if you may want them again.
Wizard
