Remaining files
Overview
Section titled “Overview”The Remaining files tab lists the unique (remaining) files found in the scan - files with no duplicates. To be listed here, a file needs to be in a folder set to Show remaining/unique files on the Where to look tab. It also needs to have been included in the scan - any files left out by the search filters are not shown.
It’s possible for this list to contain duplicate files. If the Find duplicates setting for a folder is No or External only, then any unmatched files in that folder are classed as remaining and shown here.
The tab only appears when there are remaining files to show.
Working with the list
Section titled “Working with the list”As with the duplicate files list, you can mark files for removal. Be careful though - depending on your scan criteria and locations, these could be the only copies of the files you have. The Delete files panel shows a warning to remind you.
You can double-click a file to open it, and right-click for the context menu.
Viewing, sorting, filtering, searching and marking on this list work in the same way as on the Duplicate files tab - though there are fewer options, as there are no duplicate groups in this list. For example, the group filters and Link files are not available.
A common use of this tab is to find files that are NOT in your backup: scan your working folder and your backup together, set the working folder to show remaining files, and the files listed here are the ones with no copy in the backup. You can then use Move or copy files to copy them across.
All found files
Section titled “All found files”If you use Generate files list from the Tools drop-down on the Start scan tab, this tab is renamed All found files and lists every file found in the scan locations, instead of just the remaining files.
