Sidecar files

Sidecar files are companion files kept in the same folder as another file, with the same name but a different extension - such as Song.cdg beside Song.mp3, or Movie.srt beside Movie.mkv. They usually aren’t part of the scan, so if you delete or move the main file, its sidecar would be left behind on its own.

The Delete files and Move or copy files panels can take sidecar files along with the files they belong to. Tick Also process sidecar files, then set:

  • When the file extension is: - The extensions of the main files that have sidecars, separated by semicolons - for example mp3. Leave it blank for any file.
  • Sidecar extensions: - The extensions of the sidecar files to take with them, separated by semicolons - for example cdg; lrc.
  • Keep sidecars another file still uses - Leave a sidecar alone if another file that isn’t being removed has the same name - for example Song.lrc when both Song.mp3 and Song.flac are in the folder, but only Song.mp3 is marked.

Before you start, the panel tells you how many sidecar files will go with the marked files, and afterwards how many were processed.

The Presets button fills in the extensions for common cases:
