Overview

Duplicate Cleaner is an application to help you clean up your duplicate files.

Duplicate Cleaner is not -

A system cleaner, a registry cleaner, an email duplicates cleaner, a performance tuner, a defrag tool, a one-click space saver.

Duplicate Cleaner is -

A powerful tool designed to help you sort out and clean up your own files, documents, photos, music, videos, back-ups and portable drives.

Duplicate Cleaner 6 runs on Windows, macOS and Linux.

Duplicate Cleaner can find:

  • Exact copies of files, whatever they are called and wherever they are.
  • Similar images - resized, rotated, flipped or re-saved copies of the same picture.
  • Similar music and audio, even when the files are in different formats or bit rates.
  • Similar videos, by their frames or their soundtrack.
  • Documents and e-books containing the same or similar text.
  • Files that match on their attributes, such as name, size, dates or metadata tags.
  • Duplicate folders - whole folders whose contents are duplicated elsewhere.

Once a scan is finished, Duplicate Cleaner gives you a range of tools to decide which copies to keep, and then to delete, move, copy, rename or link the copies you don’t need.

You should only use Duplicate Cleaner if you understand your computer’s file system, and you know what you are doing!

Always remember that data should be backed up regularly. We take no liability for any data lost or damaged through use or misuse of this software. We recommend that important data is backed up prior to the use of this software. See Should I back up my files first?

Duplicate Cleaner looks for files on your drives that appear more than once. There may be a good reason for this - a program may require a file in a certain place to work. If in doubt, do not delete a file! We recommend that you do not use Duplicate Cleaner to remove files from your program or operating system folders - for example Program Files and Windows on Windows, or /System, /Applications and ~/Library on macOS.

Duplicate Cleaner helps by protecting important system folders when removing files (see Delete files), but it is designed for your own documents and data, not for cleaning system files.
