What to find
The What to find tab is where you tell Duplicate Cleaner what you are looking for, and how you want to match duplicates. (The Where to look tab lets you say where.)
On this page you can set the way you want Duplicate Cleaner to match files. You can also specify additional duplicate matching options and search filters - these narrow down the type of files you are scanning for.
The tab is made up of these sections:
Scan mode
Section titled “Scan mode”The top section holds the criteria for the scan’s mode. Each scan has one mode, chosen when the scan is created on the Home page:
- Same content - Match files by their exact content.
- Attributes Only - Ignore the content, and match by attributes such as name, size or date.
- Image mode - Match images by similarity and metadata.
- Audio mode - Match sound and music by the audio content or metadata.
- Video mode - Match video files by frames, soundtrack or metadata.
- Text mode - Match the text in documents, e-books and plain text files by similarity.
- Binary mode - Binary and experimental matching.
Metadata
Section titled “Metadata”In Image, Audio and Video modes there is a Metadata section, where you choose which tags to show in the results, which to match on, and which to filter by.
More duplicate options
Section titled “More duplicate options”More duplicate options are extra criteria relating to file and folder attributes - same file name, same size, same dates and so on. They can be used with all scan modes, and they are the main criteria for an Attributes Only scan.
Search filters
Section titled “Search filters”Search filters narrow down the files to scan before any matching takes place - by file type, size, date and dimensions. Having filters in place can speed up large scans.
