Remove empty folders
Overview
Section titled “Overview”This standalone tool is for removing empty folders on your drives. An empty folder is a folder with no files in it. Any folders contained within it need to be empty too.
Empty folders only use a tiny amount of space, but cleaning them up can help with navigating your files, simplifying your folder structure by removing dead ends.
Enter the Folder to start from - type or paste a folder name, click the browse button, or drag a folder onto the tool. Click Start scan to begin the search; it can be stopped at any time with Cancel. Whole drives are not accepted as a starting point, and links to other folders are not followed.
Once complete, the empty folders are listed below as a tree. They are all marked for removal. Click a checkbox to change it, or use Mark all and Unmark all. Right-click the tree to Expand all, Clear list, Show folder in File Explorer or see Properties.
To remove the marked folders, click Remove empty folders. With Delete to the Recycle Bin where possible ticked they go to the Recycle Bin (Trash on macOS); otherwise they are permanently deleted. View log shows what was removed.
